Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush: Review and Swatches!

Hello everyone! I sincerely hope that each and every one of you beautiful ladies had a great Christmas. I know I did. I wanted to do a quick post sharing my thoughts on a fairly new product that I found last week.  If you are anything like me, you know that going to CVS around once a week is pretty standard, if not almost mandatory. Since I am in their beauty club I always end up getting awesome coupons that pretty much make me come back. Well, last week, it was one of those coupons that prompted me to stop by CVS. To be quite honest with you I didn’t really have a game plan when walking in there, but I figured that it wouldn’t be that hard to find something to spend my money on. I mean come on, it’s CVS.  And it wasn’t hard at all. Not long after I started browsing I saw the display for this new product from Maybelline. The product is called Dream Bouncy Blush, when I saw it, it didn’t really seem like something I wanted to purchase, but since I love blush and weird make up textures, I decided to give it a try. I got this product in two shades, Hot Tamale and Plum Wine. Hot Tamale is bright pink, and I mean it, it’s pretty bright. It’s not just your regular hot pink though, there is some dimension to it, when you use the right amount it looks absolutely beautiful. Plum Wine is a dark mauve plumish color; I don’t usually wear that color blush so I thought I would give it a try. I loved it. Too bad I didn’t own it in the fall! The texture is quite hard to describe, I don’t own anything else that feels like this. And I do own quite a bit of mousse products. It’s nothing like their dream Mousse blushes; it feels more tightly packed and harder to the touch. I certainly do feel like “bouncy” is the right way to describe it. If you press on the product and let go, it does seem like it bounces back up a little, it feels quite sponge-like at times. I was pretty impressed with the color pay off as well, because while I do enjoy the Dream Mousse blushes, sometimes I feel like they can lack pigmentation.  Lasting power was only alright, I used both Hot Tamale and Plum Wine and they both seemed to have lasted the same amount of time. On me, they lasted about 4 hours looking as great as when first applied. Keep in mind that my skin is not oily whatsoever, in fact it’s quite dry, so I assume that on someone with oily skin they will most likely not last as long.  I’m looking forward to my next trip to CVS; I think I will pick up a couple more shades. The price as I have seen is around $7 dollars, but with the sale that I got them on (buy one get one half off) and my handy dandy $5 dollar off coupon it is a pretty darn good deal.
I suggest if you are even just a little curious about this product to pick up one shade of it, Hot Tamale is pretty unique so I would go for that one.  Here are some swatches and pictures of the product.

You can see that it's a little domed :)

Hope you enjoyed the post and have an awesome day.

NOTD: Rage by Orly

Hello everyone! Hope you are all doing well. With Christmas only two days away, I thought I'd share with you all the polish I've decided to wear that day. This Christmas I will be wearing Orly's Rage on my nails. I decided on this one because I wanted something different from the typical reds. I feel like this rose-gold color is just as festive because its glittery/metallic finish remind me of gift wrapping paper. This is the only Orly polish I own and I simply love it because it's quite a unique color and all you need is two coats for complete opacity. You can find Orly polishes at most drugstores and they're around $7 per bottle. The picture above honestly doesn't do this polish justice so you should definitely check it out in person if you get the chance!

Hope you all have a fantastic Christmas, or whatever holiday you celebrate, with your family and loved ones. Be safe and keep an eye out for my New Years Eve look ;)

The curious case of the Sephora Giftcard...

Hello all!! Good morning :) It is 7:00 am right now and I am sitting at starbucks with some time to kill, so I thought I would share a story with you all. A few months ago my husband and I received an envelope in the mail that did NOT belong to us, it was purple and it looked like some sort of greeting card was inside. We put it aside and said to ourselves that we would return it to the sender some time later. That was back in October haha. Well, last night as I was cleaning out a drawer in our kitchen, I found it again! I was pretty distracted listening to some Katy Perry song while cleaning, that without thinking about it, I opened it! I don't know what I was thinking, I think maybe in my head I was hoping that it was a wedding card that we never opened, that I didn't even bother to read the heading of the envelope. Well, it wasn't a wedding card. In fact, it was a birthday card to someone named Ashley and what are the chances..a Sephora Giftcard inside. Let me rephrase, a $50 dollar Sephora Giftcard. Did you get that? SEPHORA. Ahem, excuse me, I seem to be getting excited just thinking about it. After I had just finished a conversation with an old friend and confessing my love of makeup to him, I stumbled accross this giftcard. Oh and it was torture, I quickly called Michelle, and we thought of the possibilities, we thought we could do a giveaway for the blog, we thought we could buy some products to review (all in the name of the blog of course!!). We ended our conversation on the phone by agreeing to return it, it just didn't feel right to spend something that wasn't ours. Oh, but then I talked to my husband. We talked about it for about 20 minutes, and during that time we revisited the possibility of not returning it, some of our excuses were the fact that I had already opened it, and it was sent way back in October. We were lusting after the card indeed, well, mainly just me, but Andrew loves to see me happy, and since I have been a bit down lately, I know that he just wanted to see me smile. Don't worry, after a few minutes we realized we certainly couldn't keep it, it would have been wrong. Since I didn't damage the envelope much, I was able to tape it back up and return to the sender. I wrote an apologetic note on the inside too, man I was so embarrased! And now that I am writing this I am even more embarrased that I thought about keeping it. Just because I have been a little sad lately does not give me the right to take something that's not mine, end of story. I hope that the card gets given to the right person, and I hope that she buys lots of makeup goodies :)
Well that's it, that's my little story! Hope you guys have an awesome day. I know I will!
